If you miss someone, do something about it.
... but if they can't be bothered meeting you halfway, fuck it. Opportunity costs of time, so don't accept the love you think you deserve. Never, ever, ever settle and implicitly concede that you should be discounting yourself.
You have to decide what you care more about and which one is more worth it.
Fragile social structures can disappear overnight and will almost certainly be gone by the the time everything matters and you realised that you didn't realise until it was too late.
What's sad now will only get better if you don't allow yourself to linger in that limbo zone, hesitantly not wanting to lose the old and trying to gain the new at the same time.
Forget your friends? No.
Leave everything that wasn't doing you the greatest service, live through the awkward transition where you're so tempted to run back, where you feel out of the loop when...
you realise you don't want to be in the loop anymore.
Be present, be polite, don't be dramatic but know what you're really there for.
----
Recognise the assumptions, understand why we have them so we can learn to question what we know. Bullshit-proof yourself!
Don't be the nice-sounding rhetoric... follow through.
More the blunt who would do anything for you than the sweet-talking one you'd run out on you like
Don't take anything at face value. "Tradition" is never a good enough reason if the harms outweigh the benefits.
Know what you know so well that the questioning of others only clarifies your purpose.
If someone comes up with a different way to do it, a better way, fantastic. Collective progress because you're not going to live forever to enjoy the fruits.
We are creative, curious and not alone.
